The next session of SHAW’s annual seminar will host Dr. Emma Taylor (Queen’s University Belfast), on the following paper:
“’I Will Dress as I Am a Mind To’: Rethinking Gender and Identity through the Case of Rosetta/Edwin Wakeman".
Dr. Taylor completed her PhD in History at Queen’s University Belfast in July 2025 and was the Founder and two-time President of Queen’s University Belfast’s American Studies Association. In her doctoral thesis, she explored the historical memory and public representation of concealed female Civil War soldiers during the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. She is currently preparing this research for journal submission and welcomes all feedback.
