This one-day event hopes to foster discussions regarding the French fantasies of North American authors and, conversely, the North American fantasies of their French receptors and intermediaries, as well as the misunderstandings these fantasies sometimes entail. The main lines of investigations suggested to the participants include a) that of literary criticism, with a focus on the emergence of a \u2018fantasy of France\u2019 in the works of North American authors; b) that of the French reception of these same writers; and c) that of translation.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Laurence Cossu-Beaumont (Universit\u00e9 Sorbonne Nouvelle), author of the freshly off-the-press Deux agents litt\u00e9raires dans le si\u00e8cle am\u00e9ricain. William et Jenny Bradley, passeurs culturels transatlantiques (ENS \u00c9ditions), will give a keynote conference on the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The CFP is available in French and in English here: <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/3v948hf5\">tinyurl.com\/3v948hf5<\/a><br \/>\nThe symposium will be held at Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9 on the 19th of January, 2024.
