\nSandra Laugier, Professor of Philosophy at the Universit\u00e9 Paris 1 Panth\u00e9on Sorbonne is a recipient of an ERC Advanced Grant. Her project \u201cDEMOSERIES, Shaping Democratic Spaces: Security and TV Series\u201d has been selected by the ERC for funding of \u20ac2.2 million.<\/p>\nDEMOSERIES (2020-2024) aims to study the \u201csoft power\u201d of TV series and show how they constitute new resources for the moral education, creativity, and perfectibility of their audiences; how they contribute to democratic conversation and public policies. Television series are increasingly recognized as an object of research. However, their aesthetic potential for visualising ethical issues and developing a collective inquiry into democratic values has not yet been appreciated even though they can play a crucial role in the creation of shareable values.<\/p>\n
DUTIES: <\/strong>
\nThe research assistant will
\n– Monitor publication projects (proofreading and editing articles in French, formatting bibliographies, communicating with publishers);
\n– Provide technical assistance for the organization of in person and online seminars and scientific events;
\n– Provide occasional assistance with interview transcription and archive work;
\n– Help create content for the project website and external communications on the Demoseries project (propose blog posts for the site, contribute to communications on social networks).<\/p>\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: <\/strong>
\n– Candidates should hold a Master\u2019s degree in the humanities or social sciences, or in the information and communication sciences;
\n– Solid knowledge of IT tools, digital media, data management and processing;
\n– Excellent command of French and good command of English;
\n– Interest in television series and popular culture more broadly;
\n– Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, to organize publications and materials for presentations;
