{"id":2267,"date":"2022-03-23T13:15:15","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T12:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afea.fr\/news\/?p=2267"},"modified":"2022-03-23T17:01:41","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T16:01:41","slug":"utopia-and-ecotone-contemporary-stakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afea.fr\/news\/cfp\/utopia-and-ecotone-contemporary-stakes\/2267\/","title":{"rendered":"Utopia and Ecotone: Contemporary Stakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Utopia and Ecotone: Contemporary Stakes<br \/>\nEcotones #8<\/p>\n<p>Ghent University, Belgium, 29 September \u2013 1 October 2022<br \/>\nIn partnership with EMMA (Universit\u00e9 Paul-Val\u00e9ry Montpellier 3), DIRE (Universit\u00e9 de La R\u00e9union) &amp; Maison Fran\u00e7aise d\u2019Oxford (CNRS)<\/p>\n<p>Conference venue: Ghent University, Belgium<br \/>\nDates: 29 September \u2013 1 October 2022<br \/>\nLanguages: English, French<br \/>\nDeadline for abstracts: 30 April 2022<br \/>\nNotification of acceptance: 31 May 2022<\/p>\n<p>After a series of conferences held at Universit\u00e9 Paul-Val\u00e9ry Montpellier 3, Universit\u00e9 de Poitiers and Universit\u00e9 de La R\u00e9union (France, 2015, 2016, 2018), at the Centre for the Study of Social Sciences in Calcutta (CSSSC, India, 2018), Manhattanville College (USA, 2019), Concordia University\u0301 (Canada, 2019) and University of Cape Town (South Africa, 2021), this international conference at Ghent University will be the 8th opus of the \u201cEcotones : encounters, crossings, communities\u201d (2015-2022) conference cycle. This interdisciplinary programme aims to open up the term \u201cecotone\u201d, a concept hitherto used in geography and ecology, to the humanities, political and social sciences. The \u201cUtopia and Ecotone\u201d Conference will focus specifically on utopias that emerge from or relate to ecotones.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cUtopia and Ecotone\u201d conference will take place on 29 September \u2013 1 October in Ghent (Belgium). Each presentation will last 20 minutes (followed by a discussion). A peer-reviewed publication of the proceedings is envisaged.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will be an in-person event. Travel and accommodation costs will have to be covered by the participants. Registration fees will be requested.<\/p>\n<p>How to submit:<br \/>\nPaper proposals, in English or French, in .doc or .docx format, should include a title, a 300-word abstract that clearly specifies the corpus studied, a short critical bibliography, and a 5-line bio-bibliographic note (including name, institutional affiliation and email address).<\/p>\n<p>Proposals must be sent by email to Justine Feyereisen: justine.feyereisen by 30 April 2022.
