Dear all,<\/p>\n

We are pleased to invite you to the next session of CREW\u2019s seminar series \u201cActeurs\/Chercheurs\u201d on June 11, 5pm-7pm<\/strong> to hear from Jane Boddie, Director of Evergreen Plantation in Louisiana. She has been working for more than 25 years on the preservation of Evergreen Plantation, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites in the United States and considered a National Landmark. Today, Evergreen Plantation is both a working sugarcane plantation and a place of memory, history, and cultural understanding regarding its slave past. It is located in the region of River Road, between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n

Jane Boddie will talk about her commitment to preservation and memorialization at Evergreen Plantation and will be joined by her colleagues, including:<\/p>\n

– Katy Morlas Shannon, Head of History and Interpretation at Evergreen Plantation<\/p>\n

– Steven Fisk, Operations Manager at Evergreen Plantation<\/p>\n

– Jayur Mehta, Assistant Professor in Anthropology at Florida State University<\/p>\n

– Jason Church, from the National Center for Preservation, Technology and Training<\/p>\n

Their presentations will be followed by a Q&A session led by Louisiana history specialist, Professor Nathalie Dessens (Universit\u00e9 Toulouse Jean Jaur\u00e8s).<\/p>\n
