L&rsquo;American Indian Movement et sa branche f\u00e9minine<br \/>\nWomen of All Red Nations s&#8217;emparent de ces questions sociales,<br \/>\npolitiques et culturelles. Femmes et hommes entament de concert un<br \/>\nprocessus d&rsquo;\u00e9mancipation dont l&rsquo;accomplissement ne cesse d&rsquo;\u00eatre repouss\u00e9<br \/>\npar les politiques assimilatrices successives du gouvernement<br \/>\n\u00e9tats-unien. Au Canada aussi, des mobilisations collectives \u00e9clatent<br \/>\ndans les ann\u00e9es 1980 et 1990, et culminent avec les \u00e9v\u00e9nements de<br \/>\nRestigouche (1984) et la Crise d&rsquo;Oka (1990). Ces \u00e9v\u00e8nements majeurs<br \/>\ninspirent toute une jeune g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d&rsquo;artistes autochtones et de femmes<br \/>\nen particulier, form\u00e9es notamment \u00e0 l&rsquo;Institute of American Indian Arts<br \/>\n\u00e0 Santa Fe (Nouveau-Mexique). De formations universitaires approfondies,<br \/>\nelles d\u00e9veloppent des d\u00e9marches artistiques transdisciplinaires \u00e0<br \/>\nmi-chemin entre l&rsquo;histoire de l&rsquo;art et l&rsquo;ethnographie. Elles mettent en<br \/>\n\u00e9vidence la porosit\u00e9 et la friabilit\u00e9 des fronti\u00e8res instaur\u00e9es dans<br \/>\ntous les secteurs par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 dominante contre les groupes consid\u00e9r\u00e9s<br \/>\ncomme minoritaires. A cette fin, le photographique \u2013 par lequel nous<br \/>\nd\u00e9signons la pratique, la technique et l&rsquo;image photographiques \u2013 devient<br \/>\nun outil strat\u00e9gique majeur de r\u00e9appropriation et de r\u00e9affirmation de ce<br \/>\nqu&rsquo;elles sont et tendent \u00e0 incarner. Ces artistes femmes interrogent<br \/>\ngr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce m\u00e9dium les fa\u00e7ons dont elles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es et se<br \/>\nrepr\u00e9sentent elles-m\u00eames dans le cadre de d\u00e9marches critiques des<br \/>\nst\u00e9r\u00e9otypes dont elles font l&rsquo;objet depuis plusieurs si\u00e8cles<br \/>\nd&rsquo;appropriation culturelle. Elles repensent par ce biais leurs<br \/>\nidentit\u00e9s, les rapports qu&rsquo;elles entretiennent \u00e0 leurs corps, \u00e0 leurs<br \/>\nsexualit\u00e9s et \u00e0 leurs genres, \u00e0 l&rsquo;aune de leurs propres spiritualit\u00e9s.<br \/>\nGr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leurs images artistiques et politiques, fruits de pratiques<br \/>\nfond\u00e9es sur une analogie entre la violation de leurs droits,<br \/>\nl&rsquo;exploitation de leurs terres et territoires, et les violences<br \/>\nsexuelles dont elles font l&rsquo;objet, elles continuent \u00e0 prendre part aux<br \/>\nmouvements de r\u00e9sistance actuels qui s&rsquo;opposent aux projets<br \/>\nextractivistes face auxquels elles s&rsquo;affirment, une nouvelle fois, en<br \/>\npremi\u00e8re ligne. A partir d&rsquo;un corpus iconographique de pr\u00e8s de 400<br \/>\n\u0153uvres r\u00e9alis\u00e9es entre 1969 et 2019, et d&rsquo;entretiens individuels avec<br \/>\ndes artistes et des militantes femmes et queer autochtones des<br \/>\nEtats-Unis et du Canada, cette th\u00e8se a pour objectif de montrer en quoi<br \/>\nces images \u2013 en particulier photographiques configurent des<br \/>\n\u00e9pist\u00e9mologies nouvelles dans une perspective intersectionnelle,<br \/>\nd\u00e9coloniale et anticapitaliste, et s&rsquo;inscrivent dans la continuit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un<br \/>\nprocessus de r\u00e9affirmation des droits inh\u00e9rents des peuples autochtones,<br \/>\ngarantis par la D\u00e9claration des Nations Unies sur les Droits des Peuples<br \/>\nAutochtones (2007).<\/p>\n<p>Au
