Dear colleagues,
Please find attached the call for papers for a forthcoming special issue of Transatlantica: Revue d’études américaines / American Studies Journal entitled “Contemporaneities of Indigenous Poetry in the United States,” edited by Aurore Clavier, Mathilde Louette, and Baptiste Rembert.
The issue will examine the multiple temporalities articulated by contemporary Indigenous poetry in the United States, with particular attention to questions of temporal sovereignty, survivance, resurgence, literary genealogy, formal experimentation, queer temporalities, environmental continuities, archives, and transmission.
We welcome proposals addressing Indigenous poetic and critical works from the late twentieth century to the present. In addition to scholarly articles, the issue may also include interviews, translations, critical-creative pieces, artistic contributions, and pedagogical or documentary materials.
Proposals of approximately 700 words, accompanied by a short biographical note of approximately 200 words, should be submitted by September 15, 2026. Contributions may be written in English or French.
The abstracts will be due by September, 15, 2026. The completed articles will be due by March 15, 2027, and publication is planned for the final issue of 2027.
Please feel free to circulate this call among colleagues, researchers, poets, translators, and students who may be interested.
